I've looked for this but cant seem to find it. I need a place/company that sells bandwidth in or near Danville Va. so we can start an ISP business.
Currently we have 65 people interested in joining our service and that number grows as we privately inquire.
Does anyone know what the process is or who I can contact to contract for the bandwidth?
I'm not asking about local established ISPs. I have no need for that information/
I need places that sell the actual BANDWIDTH.
We're planning on buying a gateway soon but we'd like to establish a bandwidth provider first.

Resurrecting a small failed cable company into an ISP
I am looking into resurrecting a small defunct cable company that went out of business about 5 years ago. This company only ever provided basic TV service with equipment made in the 80's/90's at the latest. It was community owned, and assuming that I can purchase or gain control of the land and equipment what things would I need to consider when taking this project on?
Points to consider:
* I have no intention of ever offering cable, only internet and maybe phone later on
* Area is very mountainous and rural
* 3mb DSL exists in parts of the area, and only option other than satellite (no real competition)
* I am comfortable in doing most everything behind the head-end such as billing, networking, business, project management, etc. But pretty green on the cable plant side
* WISP options not viable in this region due to mountains and limited antenna options
* Head-end is about 10 road miles from nearest fiber
Things I know:
* Taps and amplifiers are only one way and all would need replaced
* There is around 300 miles of existing coax
* Most of the coax is still intact and buildings are still in usable condition
Things I assume:
* I assume that bringing this plant back to life one section at a time is best
* I think I could start with a used DOCSIS 2.0 CMTS from ebay and upgrade later
* I'll need to contract out some of the cable plant maintenance, but not sure how much
* I'll have to pay pole rent to someone (AT&T or Potomac Edison)
* I'll be able to get at least some grant money or local investment to start this
* I'll most likely need Fiber/HFC to reach to the outermost portions of the plant
Things I don't know:
* Exactly how much of the cable plant will need reworked/repaired
* What the ownership structure will be after I gain access to the equipment
* Where to find contract cable plant technicians?
* What else might need to be updated to upgrade an ancient cable plant to support internet?
* A bunch of stuff you are about to tell me :)
